Runaway

A poem (maybe I might tune it into a song one day) I wrote three years back. I came to know there were lots of poets in WordPress, so I thought of sharing one. Do tell me if its good or lame.

We left our house
In the scorching sun.
Left our people
Who were close to us.
We packed our bags and ran away
To be together night and day.

But now my darling, what she said,
We couldn’t be together again.
Said why did we have to leave this way?
Why do we have to live this way?

We came across a motel
To spend the night.
Booked a pretty little room
Which had a lovely sight.
But she kept on looking outside,
Her face shining brightly like the stars at midnight.

Said she has a bad feeling about this,
Said this was absolutely wrong.
Why did we have to leave this way?
Why do we have to live this way?

We parted ways during the night
When I was dressed in black and white.
She came to me to tell for the last time
What she was feeling all the time.

Said she has a bad feeling about this
Said this was absolutely wrong.
We shouldn’t have left this way.
We couldn’t ever live this way.

And the wedding bells kept on ringing.
The wedding bells kept on ringing.
